I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and grew up in Brighton, Michigan. I went to Michigan Tech University and graduated with a BS in Biomedical Engineering in 2001. I did a research internship in the Orthopaedic Research Lab at the Mayo Clinic in 1999. I earned my PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Utah in 2007. I was hired as a Research Assistant Professor in the Orthopaedics Department in December 2007.
